FAQ's
Q: What does it mean to treat a person "holistically"?
A: “Holistic” practitioners assess your emotional, nutritional, biochemical, structural and spiritual needs, not just where a manifested symptom is most apparent. Then, holistic practitioners “treat” by performing the most effective, natural and appropriate procedures for the detected imbalances. Holistic healing is not intended to serve as a band-aid or a one-time fix. It is an ongoing journey to ultimately living a conscientious and better life.
Q: Why is holistic healing (mind/body/heart/spirit) more effective and efficient?
A: Because it helps remove any resistance, block, or interference to the body's innate, self-healing capabilities at all levels of being.
Q: What role do emotions play in health care?
A: Emotions are vibrations with particular frequencies that flow through the energy channels or meridians in the body. According to the five element theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, these meridians flow in theoretical ‘elements’ which correspond to particular frequencies. For example, our 'water' element harbors feelings of fear which affect the flow of energy to the kidneys and bladder, thereby leading to low back pain. The toxic emotion anger will affect liver function. The chronic maladaptive stress response to worry or anxiety will perpetuate gastritis, indigestion, or reflux disease. A trained holistic practitioner can alleviate emotional imbalances using the LifeLine Technique and, in turn, facilitate healing.
Q: With regards to healing, where and how does spirituality come into play?
A: Spirituality is one of the key concepts to embrace when learning how to heal, or how to master the game of life. Emotional, biochemical, and structural are other concepts to consider. Spirit can be defined in many ways and may mean something different to each one of us. But eventually, we all agree that being "in spirit" means being "inspired." When someone is inspired, they are connected vibrationally and are in tune with the power of their spirit. Then, they are on track to feeling "whole." This experience nourishes the understanding of self and the power of now (owning the power of staying present), which thereby facilitates healing.
Q: How can a person get into the mindset of eating healthfully?
A: The first thing to consider is making time to celebrate your meals. Don't just eat to re-fuel. Next, get all six tastes into your meals: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, astringent, and pungent. This will help satiate you on all levels. Then add some texture to your meals. Have something crunchy or chewy to entertain your eating experience. Finally, know that the basic premise to following a healthy food plan is to live the “80/20 rule.” Make conscientious choices 80% of the time; for the other 20% of time, go ahead and indulge! You deserve it!
Q: Is there anything I should avoid while on my journey into healing?
A: Yes... Sugar! Do not compromise your system with a flush of insulin when looking to create an environment for healing. Sugar will increase your inflammatory reactions and complicate the biochemical balance of your bodymind. There are several other detriments to what eventually becomes a hyperinsulinemia response (too much insulin in the blood). When it comes to overcoming a perceived stress or health concern, stick with pure, clean water and proteins! And definitely... stay away from sugar substitutes such as aspartame (Nutra-sweet) and sucralose (Splenda)! Sugar and sugar substitutes can toxify and confuse the body systems even more!!
